Do I need to create an account?

No! Minute Cryptic works completely in your browser without requiring any registration. Your statistics and progress are saved locally on your device.

Yes, Minute Cryptic is completely free to play with no hidden costs, subscriptions, or premium features.

How to Play

I'm new to cryptic crosswords. Where should I start?

Start with our How to Play guide, which explains the basics of cryptic clues. Then jump into the game and use hints when needed - every clue comes with explanations to help you learn.

What do the hints do?

• Show Hints: Reveals the definition part of the clue
• Show Letter: Reveals one correct letter in the answer
• Using hints increases your score (like golf - lower is better)

How does the scoring work?

Scoring is like golf - lower numbers are better! You start with a base score and add points for using hints. Each puzzle has a "par" score that represents the expected difficulty.

Can I play previous puzzles?

Currently, clicking "New Game" gives you a random puzzle from our collection. We're working on an archive feature to let you browse and replay specific puzzles.

Technical Support

The game won't load. What should I do?

Try these steps:

1. Refresh the page
2. Clear your browser cache
3. Make sure JavaScript is enabled
4. Try a different browser
5. Check if you're blocking ads or scripts

My progress disappeared. Can I get it back?

Progress is stored locally in your browser. It can be lost if you:

Unfortunately, we can't recover lost local data, but you can start fresh anytime!

The virtual keyboard isn't working.

Make sure you're clicking directly on the letter keys. You can also use your physical keyboard to type letters. If problems persist, try refreshing the page.

Does Minute Cryptic work on mobile?

Yes! Minute Cryptic is fully responsive and works great on phones and tablets. The virtual keyboard is especially useful for mobile play.

Yes! After completing a puzzle, click the "Share Result" button to copy your score to the clipboard. You can then paste it into social media or messages.

How often do you add new puzzles?

Our database currently contains 30+ high-quality cryptic clues, with more being added regularly. Since puzzles are served randomly, you'll encounter fresh challenges each time you play.

Can I suggest new puzzle ideas?

Is there a difficulty setting?

Each puzzle is marked with its difficulty level (easy, medium, hard), but they're presented randomly. We're considering adding difficulty filters in future updates.

How do I know which part is the definition?
